The annual Christmas Dinner project was founded by the poet Lemn Sissay. As a care leaver himself Lemn recognised how challenging and isolating this time time of year can be for care leavers around the country, he created this project to ensure that local communities can provide an amazing Christmas Day for care leavers aged between 18 and 25 – one they’ll never forget. Each Dinner is organised locally by a steering group of people who come together to make the Christmas Day magic happen.
Find a list of the Christmas dinners happening around the country here each area has information on how you can attend or volunteer.
Check out this video where you can hear Lemn talking about his experience and why he set up this project, as well as from care leavers who have attended the event, to hear what they thought of it!
